Texas A and M Nursing and Health Care Professional Summer Camp!

Howdy Everyone,

       Summer is fast approaching and we have a lot of exciting things coming up.  We have a few dinners the next few months, so keep an eye out for our emails, Facebook posts, and Nursing Network notifications. Also, feel free to bring a friend!  We are open to all areas of nursing, not just ICU.  Hope to see you there!  (Members will have priority for the more popular dinners.)

      Now lets get down to business!  Our chapter will be networking with Texas A&M this year to help with their annual summer camps!  If your not familiar with the program, the summer camp is for highschool students interested in the nursing profession and healthcare field. The nursing camp will be held in June and the healthcare professionals camp will be in July.  We need nurses to help with camp stations!  Each station is approximately a 2 to 3 hour committment, and we are needing 1 nurse for each station. 

         Members who volunteer will receive a certificate of volunteer completion from our chapter. It's also a great chance to add to your career ladder!  Parking will be taken care of by Texas A&M.  If your interested in helping please contact Alma Garay the Simulation Coordinator at Texas A&M.  1 Nurse- Station - 1030 -1130  Venipuncture- Students to learn venipuncture tech. 

 
 Monday, July 16  
 1 Nurse- Station -10:00 - 11:30   Scrub/Gown/Glove - students to learn proper S/G/G technique  

 Tuesday, July 17  
1 Nurse- 0915 -1000 Venipuncture - students to learn basic venipuncture techniques  

 Wednesday, July 18   
1 Nurse Station - 0915 - 1015 Respiratory Therapy- students will learn R.T. techniques via use of I.S.,N.C., Oxygen tank etc.

1 Nurse-Station - 1015 - 1100 Small- intro. to ausculation of pulmonary/cardiac/bowels
